Lee Marvin's 1968 Shelby GT500KR Convertible Russo and Steele's Famed Scottsdale Auction. As delivered to Marvin, the Shelby's 428 Cobra Jet V-8 produced a claimed 335 horsepower, which was 25 horsepower less than the 428 Police Interceptor V-8 used in previous Shelby G.T. 500 models. Actual output of the Cobra Jet V-8 was somewhere in the vicinity of 400 horsepower and 440 pound-feet of torque, a fact that Shelby felt insurance companies didn't need to know. Marvin's car shifted through a three-speed C-6 automatic transmission, which sent power to a 9-inch Traction-Lok rear differential. With every option box checked, the car came with power steering, power brakes, air conditioning, a tilt steering column, a center console, woodgrain trim, a gauge package with tachometer and 10-spoke Shelby wheels. When the Shelby crosses the stage in Scottsdale, it will still have less than 47,000 miles on the odometer and will include the original pre-delivery inspection form (showing Marvin as its first owner), four original Shelby 10-spoke wheels shod with radial tires, and complete documentation on its history and ownership. Russo and Steele's pre-auction estimate for the Shelby ranges from $160,000 to $210,000. Source
